One of the greatest enemies a man must overcome in his life is the flesh, and it works. One of the giants you must seriously deal with before arriving at your promised land is the flesh. The Flesh you fail to deal with today will come back to deal with you tomorrow.
Galatians 5:19-21.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
The flesh has no respect for anybody. Anyone who wants to remain eternally relevant must not take the flesh lightly. It must be given all it takes to get it out of the way.
There are times you think you’ve conquered Mr. Flesh, but not long after, you begin to see Mr. Flesh finding expression through you. Anyone who can conquer the flesh can conquer anything.
If there’s only one Mr that you must disappoint, beloveth, let it be Mr flesh. The flesh you don’t deal with today can wait for you in the future after you have built your empire, after you have laboured, Mr flesh can show up anytime, anywhere to pull-down what you’ve laboured for and acquired for years.
So it will be better to locate whichever works of the flesh that is still manifesting through you now and deal with them immediately. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
1. Confess it to God
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV
Flesh and his works will always remain powerful as long as it is kept secret. The moment it’s being exposed, it is already halfway conquered.
The first thing to do when dealing with the flesh is to confess it to God, He knows your weakness, He knows your secrets, He knows what you’re going through, and He knows your struggles. Tell it to God and be ready to do whatever He tells you to do.
2. Feed Your Spirit With Right Meal
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5:14 KJV
As the body needs physical foods to survive, to gain muscle, to gain strength and to grow, so likewise the spirit man also needs spiritual diet to stay healthy. The spiritual controls the physical, The more you feed your spirit man with the word of God, the more the flesh is getting weak.
When you feed your spirit man with the word of God, your spiritual strength and muscle begins to grow from the inside, this will empowers you and give you the ability to subdue and tame the flesh.
3. Put Your Body Under Subjection
But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit]. 1 Corinthians 9:27.
To put the body under subjection is to make your body your slave. You put it under your control. Granting it no access to have his own will.
Not allowing your body to find expression. You make your body do what you want it to do, not allowing your body to do what you did not want it to do.
4. Self Discipline
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful. Psalms 1:1 NKJV
Self-discipline is doing what is right. Either it is convenient or not. This is living your life the hard way: resisting temptations and instant gratification in order to receive bigger and better rewards in the future.
There are always two ways of getting things done, the easy way and the hard way. Self-discipline is getting it done the hard way.
Self-discipline is your guarantee for sustainable success and dominion over the flesh.
5. Be Clothed With Righteousness
You have loved righteousness [You have delighted in integrity, virtue, and uprightness in purpose, thought, and action] and You have hated lawlessness (injustice and iniquity). Therefore God, [even] Your God (Godhead), has anointed You with the oil of exultant joy and gladness above and beyond Your companions. Hebrews 1:9 AMPC.
To love what God loves and to hate what God hates is the easiest way to be clothed with righteousness. But Mr flesh doesn’t allow you to love what God loves. It only drives you to the opposite direction.
You must be strictly committed to loving what God loves and hating what God hates with passion. By doing this, you’re not giving the flesh to have its way.
6. Engage in Profitable Kingdom Service
For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me. Psalm 69:9 KJV.
Service is the pathway to real significance. It is the pathways to exploit. One of the ways to deactivate the works of the flesh is to engage in kingdom services. Be totally sold out to Christ. Let the whole of Christ and kingdom services occupy your heart. By doing so, Mr flesh will begin to bow to the love of Christ that has overshadowed the whole of your entire heart.
7. Fasting
Fasting is an ever active way to deactivate the flesh. When you fast, you don’t have the physical strength to respond to the works of the flesh. It keeps your body under subjection.
8. Close All Entry Point
Whether you like it or not, there are many entry points that give the flesh access to find expression in your domain. The flesh can not suddenly manifest if you don’t invite them; though it might be ignorantly, they have legal rights to come and abide.
No stranger can suddenly come into your sitting room uninvited unless they have another leaking access point. Prayerfully discover this entry point and shut the door forever.
9. Walk in The Spirit
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 KJV.
This is one of the best ways to deal with the flesh, when you walk in the spirit you’re not walking by your five physical senses anymore, the spirit has taken all over you to the extent that you don’t respond to the fleshy desires again.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
The spirit is always willing, but the flesh is weak. You have to make the spirit come alive by praying in the spirit always and walking in the spirit.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:27 KJV.
Beloveth, the ball is now in your court. The faster you deal with the flesh, the earlier you will arrive at your dominion land
Stay blessed..
