Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. Matthew 6:19 -20.

Yesterday was the African cup of nations final between Nigeria and Cote d’ivoire. The match ended 2:1, in favour of the Cote d’ivoire.

At the end of the final game, the best players and the best teams so far in the tournament were awarded some medals and trophies for their tremendous and outstanding performance during the course of the tournament.

As we all know that no great performance comes without a price, no reward comes without a tangible amount of sacrifice. Every teams and players that were rewarded handsomely for their performance did their very best to earn the award, and the winner of the tournament also did played their part to win the trophy.

All these trophies and medals are good because it gives one good memories of one’s achievement in the past, but in time; no matter how long, it would be thrashed one day by someone.

As believers, as we celebrate our achievements, awards and trophies, let’s not also forget that there is an eternal trophy that doesn’t get rust or get destroyed awaiting every believer as a reward and will be given to every man according as his work shall be.

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18.

Our main focus must be on the rustless trophies that will speak for us both in time and in eternal. And before this can be attained, we must be ready to pay the price and live each to please our master who is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. We must keep looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Beloved, set your heart on things that are above and eternal so that you can have eternal treasures store up for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust don’t destroy and thieves don’t break in and steal.

Remain Ever Blessed.
