Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 .
For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. Isaiah 66:12 .
Do you have peace of mind? Or are you restless, fearful, often upset, and frequently plagued by an inward nagging that won’t go away? Do you find yourself trying to achieve peace by occupying your mind with work, sports, entertainment and other diversion? Have you tried to find peace through alcohol or drugs? Have you discovered that none of these things brings real and lasting peace?
The Cause
Do you want to know what’s causing this lack of peace? It is sin! That’s right – sin, which is breaking God’s law and ignoring his desires for you.
Let’s take a look at who sins. According to the bible, For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23.
Does that include you and me? Of course it does, whether we believe it or not.
If you want further proof, the bible goes on to say that your conscience also accuses you (See Romans 2:15). Have your thoughts ever bothered you when you’ve done something wrong? Don’t try to get rid of those thoughts, because that’s your conscience speaking. God has given it to us to convince us that we a sinner, and to bring you to him. A troubled conscience is a proof that sin is present. It is God saying “there is no peace…for the wicked” (See Isaiah 57:21).
The Cure
Can we get lasting peace through our own efforts? No. the only way is by admitting our sins to God and believing that he can forgive us, and give us peace through his son Jesus Christ. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1.
Why can’t we do what’s necessary to get this peace ourselves? We have no power. But it also says that he loves us so much that he sent his son to do it for us: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8.
The Way
Do you want a lasting peace? It can only come from God. You can have it right now, by putting your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and by believing in your heart that he will save you: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:9, 13.
If you are ready to surrender to him why not take a step of faith and do that now by saying this prayer with me in faith and say
Prayer: Heavenly father, I come to you today, I surrender my life to you, please forgive me of my sins, washed me with your precious blood, and give me a new beginning. I am ready to serve you and to always do your will. As from today I will live to please you, help me to always direct my thoughts and path in Jesus name, Amen.
