What you do in the secret determines what you’ll see in the open. Every man you see in the public is a product of what he does in the secret.

As a believer, the place you belong is the secret of the Most High; if you’re not in the secret place, you’re

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1.

13 Secrets of The Secret Place

1. It is a place of refuge

‭‭Psalms 91:2 AMP‬
[2] I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!”

The secret place is the place of your covering; it’s the place of your shelter; it’s the place of your protection. As long as you’re in the secret of the Most High, your security and safety are maximally guaranteed.

2. It is a place of encounter

‭Genesis 32:24.
And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

There are many places God can encounter you. He can encounter you in a prayer meeting; He can encounter you in worship or sermon sessions. He can encounter you anywhere, even in an unexpected place. But the regular place God will always encounter you is the secret place.

Your secret place is a place of encounter. You need fresh encounters from God always for you to stay relevant in your place of assignment and in your place in God.

3. It is a place of surrender

Philippians 2:7 KJV
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

The secret place is not a place to come and display your abilities and capacity. It’s a place where you surrender all to God. Regardless of who you are or what you are, lay down at His feet and submit yourself to Him.

Two captains cannot be in a ship. If you want God to still be your master, the secret place is where you surrender all to Him and let Him take over.

4. It’s a place of brokenness & Repentance

Psalm 51:17.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

One thing that God loves so much is the sincerity of the heart, and for God to see your sincerity, you must be broken.

There are times when you can’t even go to any man again because man is limited, and man also needs help. Beloved, don’t delay before you go to God in genuine Repentance and with a broken heart. Pour out your heart to Him, and God will surely have mercy on you.
God loves genuine Repentance and brokenness.

5. It’s a place of revelation

‭Daniel 2:19 AMP‬
[19] Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night, and Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

There are things you get on the surface, and there are things you get when you go deeper. Revelation cannot be gotten on the surface; you need to go a bit deeper to draw from the bank of revelation.

You may never enter the realm of revelations if you master the act of the secret place.
The secret place is a place of revelation. It’s a place where things are revealed to you.

6. It’s a place of direction

Isaiah 30:21 KJV
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

The amount of direction you get will be determined by the amount of time spent in the secret place. Many have made too many mistakes not because they wanted to, but because they didn’t spend enough time in the secret place to know what to do and what not to do.

Many have taken too many wrong steps in life because they have neglected the secret place. When your secret place is in place, every other thing will be in place.

The secret place is a place where you can hear the voice of the Holy Spirit clearly for direction. If you’re not directed by the Holy Spirit, you’ll be misled by other spirits. Be disciplined enough to stay in the secret for direction, and your ways shall be pleasing unto God when you obey.

7. It’s a place of illumination

Psalm 89:15 KJV
Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

Illumination is simply light. Without sufficient light, a man is prone to walk in darkness. But when light comes, darkness disappears.

Darkness is not only the absence of light, but also the absence of sight. When there’s no light, there can never be sight, and when there is no sight, there can never be light. Light is what gives birth to sight, and sight will give birth to insight, and when you have insight, you have Illumination, revelation and direction.

Contend for Illumination today in all areas of your life in the secret place.

8. It’s a place of power

Luke 24:49 KJV
And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Iron sharpens iron, so shall a man sharpen the countenance of his friends. When you abide in the secret place, you’ll be empowered by the power from on high because it is what God has that He will give to you when you stay with Him in the secret place.

Isaiah 40:29 KJV
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

The secret place is a place where God exchange your weakness for strength and your little might for power. For you to be empowered by God, you must abide in the secret place.

9. It is a place of revival

Psalm 85:6 KJV
Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

Revival is not by chance; revival is not guesswork; revival is intentional; revival is deliberate.

Your revival doesn’t start in what you do in public; your revival is not what you do in the open; your revival starts from the secret place; your revival is what you do in the secret place. If you’re not revived in the secret place, you can’t command revival in the open.

The secret place is a place of revival; be revived.

10. It’s a place of refreshing

‭Luke 10:42 AMP‬
[42] but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part [that which is to her advantage], which will not be taken away from her.”

Never be too busy and neglect the place of your refreshing. Many overwork themselves; many even burn out of energy and spiritual fire without going to the secret place for refreshing.

You need to retreat, you need to refuel, and you need to reload. The secret place is essential for your refreshing.

11. It’s a place of preservation

Psalm 41:2 KJV
The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

Many people received fire, many received oil, many received anointing, many received grace, etc but lost them all because they were unable to preserve them.

The amount of diligence, discipline and responsibility it takes to preserve the anointing, the grace, and the power of God that you were entrusted with is more than what it takes to be empowered, anointed, and engraced.

The secret place is a place of preservation; ensure you stay in the secret place for your divine preservation.

12. It’s a place of intimacy

‭Jeremiah 29:13 AMP‬
[13] Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Lovers create time for themselves. Friends also create time for themselves for hangouts and discussion. The amount of time you spend with God shows how much love you have for Him.

Man was created for fellowship, so if you’re not having intimacy with the Holy Spirit, it means you’re missing one of the biggest parts of your existence and your creation.

The secret place is a place of studying, praying, worshipping, fellowshippin,g etc. You must never allow intimacy with God to be optional; intentionally create time to have communion with the Holy Spirit.

The secret is a place of communion; it’s a place of fellowship; it’s a place of intimacy.

13. It’s a place of secrets

‭Deuteronomy 29:29 AMP‬
[29] “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things which are revealed and disclosed belong to us and to our children forever, so that we may do all of the words of this law.

There are things Jesus revealed to the crowd; there are things Jesus revealed to His followers; there are things He revealed to His disciples; there are things He revealed to the twelve apostles; and there are things He revealed to Peter, James and John. He shared different secrets with them as a result of their fellowship and importance.

There are many things God will not reveal to you in the crowd except in the secret place. There are many things God will not show you in public except in the secret place; there are some things God will not speak about in the open except in the secret place.

The secret place is a place where secrets are shared and revealed. Friends shares secret when they’re together; God will always share secrets with you when you’re together.

You may not be able to share something with some people as well. The secret place is where you can honestly tell God your own secret as well. I can assure you that your secret is safe with Him, and He will love and appreciate your sincerity.

Beloved, you must value your secret place; make it your priority to give more importance to your secret place and prioritise your secret place for your fulfilment and fruitfulness.
