And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord : and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart. Jeremiah 24:7.

Who is a man after God’s heart?

A man after God’s heart is the one whose heart is always after God, is the one whose heart is always panting God.

A man after God’s heart is the one who references and acknowledge God in everything.

A man after God’s heart is the one who wants to see God glorified in all things.

A man after God’s heart is the one who is always after the Advancement and the expansion of the kingdom of God from with the right motive.

A man after God’s heart is the one who God Himself can say this my beloved son in whom I’m well pleased.

There are some qualities that a man after God’s heart possesses, in this post, we’ll be looking at few of them.

1. Lover of His Presence

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. Matthew 14:23. 

Two lovers knows when and how to create and spend quality time together. The proof that you love someone can be determined by how much time you spent with the person.

There will never be enough time to always do what we want to do, but when something matters to us a lot, we create time for it.

A man after God’s heart will not find excuses for not spending quality time in His presence. Even In the midst of his busy schedules, he will surely create time just to have intimacy with the Father.

Any time spent with God can never be a wasted time. God deserves the best and more of our time. When we behold His face in His presence and in His Words, then we begin to look more like Him and wonderfully radiate His glory.

2. Lover of His Word

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11.

God declared David a man after His heart not because of his looks, ability or skills, but because He found David as a man who keeps, meditate and do His Words.

Keeping and doing the Word of God shows that you really want to live to please Him. A man after the heart of God must be a lover and the doer of the word of God.

David is a man who always seek the counsel of God concerning any matter before he takes any step. The moment he left God out of the equation, he fell into destruction, though he retraced his steps back but the damage was beyond repair.

There are many hearer today but only few doers, those who are after the heart of God will keep and do His Words irrespective of the prevailing conditions, and will be approved and endorsed by God Himself.

3. His Will

Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. Hebrews 10:7. 

The man after God’s heart does not have a will of his own. A man after God’s heart is always seeking for the will of God to be done.

There’s always a conflict between the will of God and the will of a man, but a man after God’s heart will always make the will of God to prevail over his.

4. Seek God’s interests

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13. 

There are many who seek God for one thing or the other but they are only few who seeks His interest. God is really pleased when we truly seek Him for who He is and not for what He can give.

Seeking God’s interest is to search the heart of the Father to discern His needs. You may think that God doesn’t have a need, it’s true but one major thing the Father is always longing for is to His see children come back to Him, is to see His sons and daughters come out of darkness and come into the glorious light of Christ.

It is the will of God that no one should perish. It is His Will that all men should come to repentance and spend eternity with Him. The Father’s only interest is the salvation of the souls of men.

If you are man after the heart of God, you will do all you can to advance and expand His kingdom.

5. Lover of God

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 1 John 5:2. 

To be a man after God’s heart is to be a true lover of God. God is Love and He must be loved.

If you don’t love God, you can’t enjoy His presence, if you don’t love God, you can’t keep or do His Words, if you don’t love God, you can’t seek to know His interest and if you don’t love God, His will can never finds expression in your life.

It takes a man after God’s heart and who love God with the whole of his heart, to be in His presence to spend quality time with Him always.

It takes a man after God’s heart and who love God with the whole of his heart, to keep and do His commandments.

It takes a man after God’s heart and who love God with the whole of his heart, to allow His will to prevail.

It takes a man after God’s heart and who love God with the whole of his heart to seek His interest and advance His Kingdom.

Beloved, how much do you love God? How much do you pant and seek after Him. Remember God cannot be mocked, a man will definitely reap what he sows, and If you’re willing and obedient, you will surely eat the good of the land.
