Feeding on Spiritual Meals for a Healthy Spiritual life

Feeding our bodies the appropriate nutrients is essential for growth and healthy living. The body needs the right portions of a balanced diet to stay strong and healthy.

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. 1 Peter 2:2.

As the body depends on physical meals to survive, likewise, our spiritual lives depend on spiritual diets to stay active and healthy. Just as physical food is important and necessary for physical growth, spiritual meals are important for spiritual growth as well.

You can’t serve yourself three square meals every day and give your spiritual man only junk food—or nothing at all—for the whole day. Some can even go a whole week or months without enriching their spiritual lives with a sustainable diet. This is very detrimental to your spiritual life.

Hebrews 5:12.
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

We can hardly bear it if our phones go off for some minutes or hours; that’s why we’re prepared to charge our phones or gadgets whenever the battery is running low. Some even have a mobile power supply to make sure they’re never out of power. This shows how important it is to maintain sufficient energy and how much inconvenience a lack of a sustainable power supply can cause.

If we care so much about physical and temporal things, how much more should we care about spiritual things, which control and empower the physical?

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18.

What is a Spiritual Meal?

A spiritual meal is anything you do or engage in that strengthens, nourishes, and empowers your spiritual life. That’s why you must keep feeding your spirit man regularly with the right meal if you want your spiritual life to blossom.

Hebrews 5:14.
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Just as physical food and exercise strengthen the muscles and promote healthy living for the body, spiritual food and exercises—such as praying, fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit, fasting, studying, meditating on and doing the Word, exercising your faith, taking Holy Communion, and making positive confessions—strengthen your spiritual man.

A man may be very strong and healthy, and even be a heavyweight champion physically, but he might be a featherweight spiritually. A man’s strength is not really determined by his physical muscles but by his spiritual strength. A man’s true weight is not really determined by his physical weight on the scale but by his spiritual weight.

That’s why Goliath was a giant physically, but it took a teenage boy called David, who was weightier in the spirit, to bring him down with a sling and a stone.

You don’t become a spiritual giant in a single day; you grow into one through what you feed on and do consistently. That’s why what you feed on and do matters.

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Jude 1:20.

No father would not want to see his children grow; it is God’s pleasure for us to keep growing. That’s why we must always feed ourselves with the right spiritual meals so that we can grow to the measure and stature He has ordained for us.

Beloved, never allow your body to suffer from spiritual kwashiorkor so that you do not faint; feed and train your body to get used to spiritual meals. Pray, study, fellowship, evangelize, and practice your beliefs so that you can always be in charge and in command.

God bless you.
